His work reflects his proud Mexican heritage, using a combination of Cholita style girls, Mexican Folk Art, 50’s Pin-Up, Pinstriping and tattoo style design.
His influences range from the original old school tattooist Sailor Jerry and pinstriper Von Dutch, right through to artists of today such as Sylvia Ji – Just don’t call him a rip off!

Peter Taylor is an artist from Vancouver, Canada. His paintings are known for focusing on a single figure whose facial expressions and bodily positions exude a combination of playfulness and meditative contentment. Because of his background in graffiti he is known for working in large scale. By depicting his figures at near-human scale, he encourages his audience to identify and interact, while recognizing at the same time the paradoxical nature of this approach: just as they approach human size, the characters defy proportion and verisimilitude by their at-times bizarre contortions and swollen features.
More of Peter’s playful, meditative, tattooed figures after the jump.
